The Red Poppy Meaning

The red poppy flower symbolizes the sacrifice of fallen troops since the First World War and continues to be a symbol of their sacrifice on Memorial Day. The poppies adopted this symbolism from the war poem “In Flanders Fields,” written by the Canadian physician, Lt. Col. John McCrae.
